A Note on Spelling

     Our Swiss relatives spell their last name “Friderich”.  Apparently, August, our American ancestor, gave his family name as “Friedrich”, as reflected in church records.  According to Rolf Friderich, the Swiss spelling changed from Friedrich to Friderich about the time our branch migrated to the US (1836).  So Friedrich was initially used in the US, later Americanized to “Frederick” .
